Children with Learning Disabilities and Developmental Delays Receive Aid

For children with learning problems, autism, disorganization, and difficulties in completing and turning assignments in on time, training with the Interactive Metronome process can be a critical key to success.

For the challenged student, as well as for the kids at the top of the class, the IM route can be be customized to accommodate their learning style.

Each client will be set on course with a customized, step-by-step protocol to maximize their potential.

All the gains through IM come by improving the speed of the brain's process and decision-making. Progress over the 12 one-hour sessions of the IM training at Brain Train Cleveland is measured. The statistical arrays steer the program and provide immediate feedback for the Certified Trainer as well as for the trainee.

First, the Training improves brain processing speed, which results in:

  • Better communication
  • Better attention and focus
  • Improved coordination: from writing to motor skills
  • Faster and easier learning

You can begin to realize that this training doesn't just help children. It works with adults, too.

ANYONE can benefit from the improved brain processing speed and improved decision making speeds…especially children who struggle with learning disabilities, dyslexia, ADD/ADHD and including children with Asperger's syndrome.

Specifically, dyslexia means difficulty in reading. Teens, children and adults often find that tutoring does not resolve problems. Tutoring strategies often involve tactics as:

  • Sight word targeting
  • blends of phonemes

An efficient approach to reading struggles must involve strengthening fundamental skills of learning, instead of the symptoms.

The foundational skills of learning are:

  • Understanding concepts
  • attention
  • Memory
  • Auditory processing
  • Processing speed refinement
  • Recruiting logic and reasoning
  • Visualization

The identification of an area of weakness or underdevelopment and providing a method to measurably improve these skills provide routes to reading competency. All populations can be served: teens, children and adults.

The metronome beat is essential

The Interactive Metronome process will be done in this manner:

  • Your child will work directly: one-to-one with a certified trainer.
  • A customized program will be designed for the trainee.
  • An auditory beat is monitored by both trainee and trainer.
  • The trainee will use simple physical movements: hand claps, toe tapping, brushing leg to respond to the sounds.
  • The IM program will measure the precision of these response and incrementally, challenge the trainee over the 3 weeks of training.
  • Age appropriate interactions with the IM program are used.

With the gains in processing speeds, the participant will gain permanent fluency in the rate of transmission of information along the neural system. The rewards will be the ability to approach and comprehend books, articles, coursework, web sites and other written material [including testing materials] with ease and confidence.

These goals have brought success to the academic setting for the trainee. The extension of the increases in skills affect both the family life and the trainee's social communication.
